Prepared For My Next.

In the different seasons of my life “preparing for my next” has meant different things, but pretty much looked the same.

My path has included the journey of…

…graduating from undergrad with a BA in English Literature and not having a clue what I wanted

…to deciding a year later to go to law school

…to graduating from law school and practicing for 7 years

…to realizing and accepting that I couldn’t be the mother I desired to be while practicing law

…to ultimately making the decision in December 2006 to stop working outside the home, so that I could become a stay-at-home wife and mother!

And as is often customary of the life for a coach’s family; we moved 6 times between 2009 and 2019. I poured everything I had into my family, particularly during each of these “Nexts”.   I am so thankful to have been a constant support for my boys and now I am preparing for my latest “Next”.

My boys are 20 and 18.  They are beginning to pursue their dreams and are figuring out who they want to be.  My youngest is leaving this week for college and I am feeling every emotion.  I’m happy and excited, while at the same time nervous and sad.

I know the things that have gotten me through all my previous “Nexts” will get me through this one too.

I am choosing to put my faith in God’s plan for me by:

1. Investing in myself through continued prayer, journaling, and quiet time spent with God

2. Removing my walls and saying YES to things and opportunities that are outside my comfort zone (like writing this week’s Perfectly Unwrapping and starting my business), as well as finding my support system (friends old and new, loved ones).

3. Choosing to love myself by allowing the feelings of all my emotions, but working to not be controlled by them.
