#WeeklyWorkout

As I filtered through my email to determine what was going to make the list for READ NOW, READ LATER, or NOT IMPORTANT ENOUGH TO EVER READ, I came across an advertisement for a local fitness center that was promoting their “Workout Wednesdays”. As most promotions are designed to do, the graphics drew me in with desirable incentives-trainer support, high-intensity classes, and healthy smoothies at the end while participants discuss securing their spot for the next available class the following week.

I thought about how I, along with many of my friends are not only committed to putting in the hours at the gym or taking a morning jog or run but also calorie checking at most meals and even, on occasion, substituting a protein bar for that chocolate lava cake that’s on the dessert menu. How dedicated we are to looking good, feeling better, and making our health a priority. Thinking along those lines made me consider how important it is to work certain muscles and eat (or NOT eat) certain foods to help promote a healthier lifestyle. And how similar that is with our walks of faith...

Daily, we often find that we must exercise compassion and forgiveness towards others. And if we truly are His children, then our walks of faith should reflect the fruit that is produced by the Holy Spirit:

love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control
— Galatians 5:22-23

Joining a fitness center, increasing our physical activity, and watching what and how much we eat are important for developing a healthy lifestyle and improving our strength. And I am convinced that in the same manner; joining and participating in regular fellowship & worship in church, and “eating” from the fruit of the spirit will continue to renew our strength in the Lord.
