Products of Our Environment...

Being a product of our environment more or less proposes that the environment we grew up in, becomes our norm. That the decisions we make are influenced by that environment, therefore making us who we are.

Obviously, depending on what one’s experiences were in their “environment”, the idea of being a product can be good or bad.

There’s a solid amount of research that shows if one were consistently surrounded by examples of success and achievement, they too would follow that path. The same is true for being around failure, defeat and fulfillment.

But most of us can probably give examples; if not in our own lives, but in lives of others that we may know or have heard about, that have done the exact opposite....Didn’t follow the path that seemed obvious based on their environment and proved (again, positively or negatively) that there’s another layer that far exceeds what we’ve seen, been around and/or experienced.

I like to think back on different parts of my past and reflect on how it has played a part in who I am today. What’s most prominent about being a “product of my environment” though are the things I’ve learned, received, heard, etc....from individuals I was certain that were God sent.....people who were/are righteous, kind, loving, patient, and so much more!!

Proudly, I am a product of THAT environment❣️ We can’t change the environment we grew up in, but we can ask God for guidance in choosing the environment we would like to grow into.

Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.
