Not the Whole Playlist, Just That One Song!

I have a variety of playlists on my phone and tablet. And these playlists range from music that I listen to as I spend time with God, to songs I enjoy while working out, cleaning or sometimes just relaxing.

My “God-Time” selections though are unique in that they’re the only grouping of songs that can be used for any of the above mentioned categories. However, the Beyoncé, Calvin Harris and John Legend that I often rely on during a long morning run just doesn’t do it for me when I’m focused on hearing His voice. And every now and again, I’ll get stuck on just one song that I’ll replay for days, sometimes weeks at a time...Just that ONE song.

Over the years, I can recall very specific times in my life when THAT song was  Fred Hammond’s “When The Spirit of the Lord”, or Earnest Pugh’s “Rain On Us” just to name a few...Those times were often sprinkled with life events that had a domino effect on other life events....Sometimes exciting, thrilling and filled with anticipation.... While other times disappointing, disruptive and filled with chaos. No matter which; I found that if I could just get a song in my spirit that could speak to my heart, my head would eventually catch up and help me with the right thinking to move forward.

There’s such a parallel to how that works with other parts of one’s life journey...It doesn’t always take the opinions of many or the options of a few...It may just be that ONE person, that ONE message or that ONE song that God puts on your heart to help get you through....To bring you to a point of rejoicing, no matter what may come. I really enjoy the variety of my playlists, but I’m truly grateful for those times when “that” song plays  and plays  and plays

Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice
