Forgetting to Remember...

I can think of people in my life who fall into one of two very distinct categories...Those who remember every detail of every bad thing that has ever happened to them, and then those that joyously recall the usual anticipation (and sometimes surprise), as well as all else that created the very best times of their lives.

I proudly admit that I’m a member of the second group, but at times, to a default.

You see I have amazing recollection of all the high points, the laughter and excitement of some of the most precious experiences in my life. However, my “selective memory” is not as sharp when others reference times that were not as cheerful or filled with happiness.

Truth be told, I come into contact with significantly more individuals that spend far too much time reflecting on the bad, painful and uncomfortable periods of their past. They often find themselves in the “If it weren’t for this happening...” zone and struggle to get past that point. I go there at times, we all do....The difference is, I don’t stay!

I never allow myself to forget to remember those times when there was NOBODY BUT GOD that could have manifested the outcome. Nobody...

”Forgetting to remember”, I know when you say it, you have to actually think it through, lol....but it serves as a constant reminder to meditate on His continued faithfulness...

I will remember the deeds of the Lord; yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago. I will meditate on all your works and consider all your mighty deeds.
— (Psalm 77:11-12)
