Not A Simple Fix

Unity has never meant uniformity.
— Dr. Martin Luther King

Easy enough, right?! But for the sake of clarity, let’s define the two—

Unity - The State of being united or joined as a whole.

Uniformity - The quality or state of being uniform (remaining the same in all cases and at all times)

Now as different as these two are, they sometimes seem to be used interchangeably.  It’s been challenging lately to land on a weekly topic that isn’t closely tied to something that’s going on in the world right now. And as hard as I’ve tried to keep Perfectly Unwrapping light natured, fun, and meaningful; I feel a responsibility to make sure I acknowledge the sometimes heavy, serious, and inconsequential reality of what we are all facing on various levels. It would be easy if there were just one simple fix or solution. There is none.

But what we can do is work towards coming together and prayerfully begin to see ourselves as a whole. Yes, a whole, made up of many different parts—-Never meant or intended to represent uniformity, but in an ideal state, operating with love, respect, peace, kindness, etc...

In Crucial Things, Unity.

In Important Things, Diversity.

In All Things, Generosity.
