Giving Just a Bit More

December has arrived….And ‘Tis the season for gift giving to all those special people in our lives🎄🎁

For some, creating lists with names and gift ideas for Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa...etc, may be how you tackle this time of year. And for others *cough*my daughter*, you’re circulating your own list of your favorite things to family members so they know exactly what to “surprise” you with. There’ll be parties, dinners, out-of-town family visits, and all sorts of activities that encourage us to surround each other with good cheer and thoughts of just how fortunate we are to have one another and to indulge in the excesses of the holiday season.

I’m guilty of it all....I’m marking things off the gift list, wrapping and hiding packages, putting up decorations, selecting outfits for each holiday event, and generally speaking, immersing myself in All Things December❄️

It truly is one of my favorite times of the year.

I’m challenging myself though in 2023. I’ve decided that the same spirit I have of giving and spending fun time with friends and family in December extends throughout the next 11 months. And it may not be wrapped in the perfect box or scheduled on a special day....It may simply be a few extra minutes of listening when a friend just needs to talk, but I’m already on to the next thing in my head. Or maybe it’s offering some support to those that may have smaller children and just need a break from time to time. The list goes on and on of the many ways I know that I can give just a bit more than I have.

I love the thought of giving more than something tangible, without any occasion or expectation attached to it. There’s just something about letting others know they’re  important enough to do a little extra.

Happy Holidays Friends✨

Proverbs 11:24-25

The Message

24 The world of the generous gets larger and larger;

    the world of the stingy gets smaller and smaller.

25

The one who blesses others is abundantly blessed;
    those who help others are helped.
