🎶Why Oh Why🎶

The song “Why” {by Gospel Artist Kirk Franklin ft Stevie Wonder} played loudly as my playlist went through its normal task of randomly selecting from my long list of favorites. And I jumped right in with the chorus and lead as though Kirk and Stevie had just asked me onstage!!!!

And for you who may not be familiar with the song/lyrics, the song is simply asking why there’s so much negativity in the world and when will our change come, that will end such sadness. The song then turns to the biggest WHY, concluding with the wonderment as to why we just don’t give God a chance by putting our lives in His hands.

Although the lyrics bring attention to some heavy issues that cause you to think about and feel the malice that often surrounds us, the artists do what they do best... and that is to keep the listener engaged with just the right amount of melody added to the lyrics. Ok, so moving beyond the nuances of songwriting. My thoughts for this week are truly more about not getting caught up in the WHYs that we ask when tragedy strikes or disappointment comes... but focusing on the WHYs that prevent us from trusting The One that has control over it all!

Me, myself... I tend to lean more on the HOW side of things. Why things happen or why people do the things they do are circumstantial. I move quickly to how are we going to handle this situation! I don’t have all the answers, but this I know... God will be GLORIFIED!! There are countless passages of scripture that reveal to us how important it is to God that we give Him glory and that we don’t place any of our other gods (money, fame, success, etc..) before Him (Exodus 20:3).

Unfortunately, life happens and it’s challenging at times to find the glory of God in the midst of difficult times. But instead of drowning in the “why” of a particular situation, I’ll pour my energy into focusing on how God is going to move and be glorified in the end. He’s the answer to all our WHYs!!!
