BOOst of Positivity

Dr. Tammy offers a cute twist on one of the most popular American celebrations.

BOO-ST…

As we head into the fall/winter seasons with less hours of daylight and cold temps, sometimes that change becomes a downer.  I’m not a fan of colder temps and dark mornings. So, I have to ramp up the positivity. I anxiously look forward to the return of Spring, more sunshine and spending time outdoors in warmer temps.

Over the last two years I imagine that many of us have needed a mega-boost of positivity to get through the unforeseen events brought on by the pandemic. But even in the worst of times, there have been bright spots that brought hope, peace, joy and most of all, thankfulness.

I found bright spots from a favorite song, rainbow, fluffy clouds, a smile, a walk or staying in touch with family and friends.  All of these moments gave me peace because I knew that the Creator gave me these little gifts as reminders to look or think on the bright side.

I think more and more people are coming to realize and appreciate the smaller, simpler things in life and realize what’s really important – a boost on days when nothing seems to go right.

These positive moments were especially meaningful to me while recovering from breast cancer. First, I was thankful to be alive and to have successfully completed chemotherapy and radiation.  Talk  about needing a boost! I avoided the negative energy from others; and then I relied on prayer and scriptures.  One of my favorite scriptures says “…for when I am weak, He is strong!”

Even though we have turned the corner on COVID and the massive toll it took on our country, there are new challenges, disasters and disappointments. But, stay encouraged. Let your light shine! Recharge your batteries. Build in some “me time” – meditation, mindfulness,  a favorite fitness routine (if there is such a thing), reading, drawing or journaling thoughts that bring you JOY, so you can look back and encourage yourself! And if needed, seek professional support if necessary to get through a rough patch.

Let your light shine, power up, and see what joy is waiting for you!
