Begin Again

I’ve started a plan for drinking at least half my body weight in water per day at least six times in the past three months. I’ve been committing to working out for 45 mins no less than three times a week for the past year. I have a stack of books on my desk that were all purchased as part of my “I’m going to read at least one book a month” challenge. And finally, in my long list of “well intentioned, purposeful, but often not completed as quickly as planned projects”, are the cabinets and shelves full of the latest kitchen gadgets that are sure to get me motivated and excited about cooking more (or at all)! 

Without hesitation (or counting), I can tell you that I’ve started, stopped, started again, and stopped again on all of these endeavors more times than I care to admit. I’ve written the vision and made it plain (Habakkuk 2:2), and all the other things that go along with mastering a task. However in some areas of my life, I’ve just needed to do a bit more. And yes, as frustrating as it has been at times to look at the still almost filled water jug at the end of the day or to realize that I’m only half way through my book and there are just two days left before the month ends, I wrestle more with just giving up completely. 


So, I go back to the drawing board—sometimes I refine my plan and other times I simply resolve to BEGIN AGAIN!!  And beginning again has little to do with defeat, but a lot to do with not giving up! So to any of you who possibly find yourselves in this familiar place, I encourage you to do the same. That’s right, just BEGIN AGAIN! And try not to lament over goals not yet reached or bench marks not yet met. Just commit to a fresh start! 

Being able to begin again means you get another opportunity to do better and make improvements in those areas that need it most. So join me as I review some lists, while at the same time, create new ones and embrace BEGINNING AGAIN!

THIS time, I’m going to finish strong. And if for some reason I don’t, guess what I’m going to do...?😉
