A Better Plan

I had big plans for 2020. A few of those included participating in a 5k with girlfriends, making some decorative changes to my new home of two years, and taking a trip abroad with my husband for an extended anniversary celebration.

Well, to date—My 5k was canceled, we moved from that home to a different state and are currently house hunting, and that trip abroad has been rescheduled for a later, safer time to travel.

Now, to be honest, not all, but a couple of these changes in plans happened because of the current health crisis we’re all experiencing, thus wise, health-conscious choices were made. But for the sake of discussion, the facts are that my plans:

      1. Were created based on what was going on in my life at the moment, with no real insight into what was REALLY going to be happening months later.

      2. Were subject to change without my input.

      3. Required adjustments to be made to create new plans.

I keep learning that no matter how hard I try to control most of what happens in my life, that apparent illusion of control seems to escape my grasp more and more. Jeremiah 29:11 is a great reminder during those times when I may get just a bit frustrated about a change in plans...

”For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future”...

So for the sake of discussion, the facts are that God’s plans are designed to:

  1. Prosper us.

  2. Prevent harm.

  3. Give us hope and a future.

When I compare these two lists, I’m humbled and find great comfort in trying to align myself with His plans.
